Overview
Good Psychiatric management is an empirically validated treatment for borderline patients that is practical, eclectic and common-sensical. It is what any patient should expect their responsible clinician to know. Its basic principles will be described with illustrations of how to disclose the diagnosis, initiate treatments, and assess progress.

Objectives
At the end of this Grand Rounds lecture, you will be able to:

  1. Most borderline patients require specialty treatments like DBT or MBT
  2. Good sense, good humor, and good will are essential aspects of GPM
  3. Most borderline patients do not really want to improve

Accreditations and Approvals

Physicians
McLean Hospital is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. McLean Hospital designates this live educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category1 Credit™. National Board for Certified Counselors
