Overview

While there are many things that are taught in graduate and doctoral programs or in medical schools and residency, many of the most important lessons about patient care are often learned from mentors and through hands-on experiences during one’s career.

Whether you are just launching your career or are mid-career seeking to expand your skillset, Emerging Leaders in Mental Health is for you.

This online course, developed by McLean Hospital, the top-ranked psychiatric hospital in the United States, is designed to advance and grow the capabilities and skills of tomorrow’s mental health leaders.

Led by senior faculty from McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School who will share best practices, strategies, and evidence-based approaches to improving the patient care and provider experience, the Emerging Leaders course will help providers of all disciplines build upon their existing skills in three key areas:

  • Growing trust and developing meaningful professional relationships with patients, even those who are closed off or are reluctant to engage
  • Identifying common pitfalls related to providing an accurate diagnosis
  • Building cultural competency through curiosity and patient partnership

Offered by the Education Outreach Department at McLean Hospital
